Men's Tennis Claims Two Titles At ITA Regional Championships

MALIBU, CA -- USC nearly swept the ITA Region VIII South Championships last weekend (November 5-7) hosted by Pepperdine University at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. The Trojans claimed the singles championships in the main and back draw, and finished second in doubles competition.
USC's No. 2 seed Andrew Park defeated teammate and top-seed Patrick Gottesleben, 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday, November 7. With the victory, Park secured an automatic berth to the Rolex National Indoor Championships scheduled for February 3-6 in Dallas, Tex.
In the consolation singles championship round, Nick Rainey defeated Sean Cooper of San Diego, 6-1, 6-1.
USC barely missed a third-straight tournament championship on Sunday afternoon. Top-seeded Ryan Moore and Nick Rainey fell No. 4 seed Sebastian Graeff and Anthony Ross of Pepperdine by scores of 6-1, 7-6 (5). Following are the match-by-match tournament results.
