LOS ANGELES - Behind strong doubles play and winning five of six singles matches, the No. 13 USC men's tennis team defeated No. 52 Arizona, 6-1, in a non-conference match on Friday afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium and, in the process, earned the program's 999th overall victory.

In singles play, USC extended its lead to 2-0 as Gottesleben made quick work of Arizona's Adrian Novo, 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles position. The Wildcats would notch their first point of the afternoon at the No. 4 singles position as Michel Stopa defeated the Trojans' Gregg Hill in straight sets, 6- 3, 6-2.
From there on out, it was all USC, as Kukal gave the Trojans a 3-1 lead with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) straight set win over Arizona's Salasca and Trojan freshman Nicholas Rainey clinched the victory for USC with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 victory over the Wildcats' Caleb Marquardt.
