USC Opens Dual-Match Play With Win Over UNLV

Los Angeles, CA -- The 11th-ranked USC (1-0) men's tennis team opened the 2000 dual-match season with a 5-2 victory over UNLV, today (Jan. 21), at Marks Tennis Stadium.
The Trojans earned four singles points in the win. At No. 1, senior Patrick Gottesleben, currently ranked 30th according to the ITA fall rankings, defeated Vladimir Pavicevic, 6-3, 6-0. Sophomore and 12th-ranked Andrew Park earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Nenad Zivkovic, sophomore Nicholas Rainey defeated Tyler Roberts, 6-1, 6-2, and newcomer Daniel Langre posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Gregor Skorin. No. 38 Ryan Moore and freshman Parker Collins dropped their matches to Danny Erez and Robbie Parlade at the No. 3 and 6 spots.
USC swept doubles play in the match for its fifth point. The seventh ranked duo of Moore and Rainey teamed for a 9-7 win over Pavicevic and Zivkovic. Gottesleben and Langre defeated Erez and Skorin, 8-4, while Collins and Park nearly shutout Roberts and Parlade, 8-1.
The Trojans will return to their home court on Tuesday, January 25 against Brigham Young University. The match will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Marks Tennis Stadium.
