SEATTLE, Wash. -- The 19th-ranked USC men's tennis team managed to hold off the Washington Huskies for a 4-3 victory on Friday afternoon at UW's Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Trojans improve 14-7 overall and 4-2 in the Pac-10, maintaining a top-three conference spot.
USC began the match with a loss at the No. 1 doubles position as Nicholas Rainey and Ryan Moore fell to Nick Quatrochi and Andy Posavac, 8-4. But the Trojans got away with the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and 3 matches.
The 1-0 advantage after doubles proved to be the defining mark for USC in the match victory. Singles play was split at three apiece, as the Trojans grabbed victories at the No. 1, 2 and 5 positions, while Washington claimed straight-set wins at No. 3, 4 and 6.
The Trojans will travel to Eugene to face the Oregon Ducks tomorrow (April 15) at noon.
