EUGENE, Ore. -- The USC men's tennis team (15-7, 5-2 Pac-10) swept Oregon in a 7-0 Pac-10 match today at Willow Creek. The Ducks only managed to pick up one win in doubles play for the afternoon.
In singles, Patrick Gottesleben came from behind to claim a 4-6, 7-6, 6-0 victory over Oregon's Guillermo Carter at the No. 1 position. Following his lead, Andrew Park also claimed a 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 three-set win at No. 2 over Thomas Schneiter. Notably for the Trojans, freshman Parker Collins broke a six-match losing slump by defeating Jason Menke 6-2, 6-0 in the final singles match.
The match had begun with an Oregon victory as the Ducks' duo of Carter and Leslie Eisinga posted the team's only win over USC's Ryan Moore and Nicholas Rainey, 8-4, at No 1. Despite the loss, the Trojans claimed the doubles point with wins at the second and third courts.
USC returns to action on Friday, April 21, against Stanford, and on Saturday, April 22, against Cal. Both matches will be played at Marks Tennis Stadium.
