TULSA, OKLA. -- USC freshman Jason McNaughton punched his ticket into the third round of the qualifying draw at the Polo Ralph Lauren All-American Tennis Championships, and will do double duty in the doubles competition at the elite tournament being held in Tulsa, Okla. McNaughton posted another comeback victory on Tuesday with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 decision against Duke's David Goulet. He will face Nicolas Delgado of Virginia Tech on Wednesday for a chance to earn the right to move on as a qualifier in the All-American action.
McNaughton teamed up with junior Kaes Van't Hof for the afternoon's doubles play. Van't Hof also had reached the second round of singles action, but fell on Tuesday morning to NC State's William Noblitt, 6-3, 6-1. The pairing of new Trojan teammates NcNaughton and Van't Hof proved potent, as the duo tacked up an 8-5 win over Michigan State's Monich/Rinks to move on and top TCU's Barbu/Cotet 9-7. The USC doubles team now moves on to face Auburn's Lathouwers/Schweizer on Wednesday. McNaughton beat Alex Schweizer 3-6, 6-0, 7-5 in the first round of singles competition at the tournament.
