
Lucassen Will Join Johnson, Nguyen In ITA Main Draw

TULSA, OKLA. -- The USC men's tennis team has a trio of Trojans all set to compete in the main draw at the ITA/D'Novo All-American Championships thanks to Peter Lucassen's winning run through qualifying singles. The #90-ranked senior pulled off his second consecutive three-set victory with today's third-round win to secure his advancement in the tourney.
Up against 12th-seeded Ivan Salec of Radford in the third round today in Tulsa, Lucassen got ahead with a first-set win before Salec pulled out the second set. Lucassen dug in from there and powered to a final victory of 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
Lucassen joins USC's #7 Steve Johnson and #42 Daniel Nguyen in the main draw, which begins tomorrow (Oct. 7). Johnson and Nguyen are also teamed up in doubles play, ranking as the nation's #9 team as the fall 2010 season gets underway.
