
No. 8 Trojans Defeated 160-133 in Dual Meet

Charlie Charlesworth and Steven Starks each won two events, but the No. 8-ranked USC men's swimming team was defeated Friday night by the No. 1-ranked California Golden Bears.
Charlesworth, a sophomore, took first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle in nine minutes and 18.91 seconds and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:30.41 Senior Clement Lefert also finished second in the 500.
The top-ranked Bears won the meet, which was held at Spieker Aquatics Center at UC Berkeley, 160-133
The senior Starks, along with junior Harrison Jones, completed a 1-2 sweep respectively of both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, which were held last weekend.
Sophomore Justin DiFederico led fellow sophomore Alex Lendrum and freshman Jack Wagner in a sweep of the 400-yard individual medley, while Lefert won the 200-yard butterfly.
Lefert anchored a victorious 200-yard freestyle team that included freshman Vlad Morozov, junior Jeff Daniels, and senior Emmett Walling. The Trojan "B" team of junior Patrick White, freshman Dimitri Colupaev, sophomore Blake Cushing and senior Dillon Connolly completed the sweep by finishing second.
The Trojan men will travel next to Palo Alto for a 1 p.m. Saturday dual meet against the #2 Stanford men's swimming team.
