USC Posts 5 Wins At SMU Classic

The Trojans finished with 309 points, just six points back of first-place No. 4 Michigan (315). No. 13 Florida was third (283.50), No. 16 North Carolina was fourth (266.50), host SMU was fifth (245) and No. 20 Purdue was sixth (236).
In the uniquely scored event, each squad is allowed eight swimmers and one diver. Each swimmer can race in three events per day (in either a consolation or championships heat), though one of those events has to be a relay.
USC opened the evening with a win in the 200y medley relay as junior Alex Lendrum and sophomores Dimitri Colupaev, Chase Bloch and Vladimir Morozov won in 1:26.95, 0.63 ahead of Michigan.
Freshman Chad Bobrosky next placed third for USC in the championship heat of the 500y free in 4:25.14 while sophomore Jack Wagner was fifth in the consol (4:31.97).
Senior Will Orlady was sixth in the 200y breast top heat (2:04.05) while Colupaev was third in the consol heat in 2:01.10.
Lendrum won the 200y back in 1:43.85, 2.5 seconds ahead of second-place Brian Kiel of Purdue. Bloch was second in the consol race in 1:47.50.
A day after false starting in the 50y free, Morozov won the 100y free in 42.51, 1.66 ahead of second-place. Senior Jeff Daniels followed with a second-place in the consol heat in 45.04.
Colupaev followed his Friday win in the 200y free with a victory in the 200y IM (1:47.31) by a half second. Wagner was second in the consol heat in 1:50.03.
Lendrum was fourth in the 200y fly (1:47.63) while Bloch was fourth in the bottom heat (1:51.75). Freshman Jordan Gear finished sixth in the 3-meter springboard with 310.00.
