Trojans Place 5th At Titan Invitational

Sophomore Erin Matranga placed 26th to help lead the USC women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the 5K Titan Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. today (Oct. 19).
Matranga led the Trojans and was 16th in the scoring with a time of 18:39.8. Her time was nearly a minute faster than she ran on the same course as a freshman (19:27).
Redshirt sophomore Katie DeYoung was next for the Trojans in 33rd place (20 points) with a time of 18:56.2, followed by sophomore Shannon Byrne (42nd, 19:04.8, 27 points), senior Kelly Owen (44th, 19:05.8, 28 points), junior Francesca Adamski (89th, 20:48.0, 51 points) and junior Anna Burger (101st, 21:40.9, 61 points).
USC tallied 142 points to finish fifth, while San Diego State won the meet with a total of 52 points.
This was the final regular season meet of the season for the USC women's cross country team which will be competing next week at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships hosted by UCLA at Robinson's Ranch Golf Course in Santa Clarita, Calif.
The eight runners USC has entered for the Pac-12 Championships did not compete in today's race.
