Sarmiento Wraps ITA All-American Action In Round of 16

TULSA, OKLA. -- USC men's tennis wrapped up action in Tulsa with senior Ray Sarmiento reaching today's singles Round of 16 at the ITA Men's All-American Championships. Sarmiento was USC's lone solider standing in singles after a busy day of action for the Trojans yesterday.
Michael Grant, Roberto Quiroz and Jonny Wang had all dished out first-round upset wins over high seeds yesterday. Sarmiento, though, was the only Trojan to get a Round of 32 victory next, putting him in today's Round of 16 against No. 14 seed Jared Hiltzik of Illinois. Hiltzik would pull of the Round of 16 win over Sarmiento today, however, with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over USC's #8 Sarmiento.
That concludes competition for the Trojans out in Tulsa. The team will reconvene in the Bay Area next week for action at the Battle in the Bay Oct. 11-13 in San Francisco.
