Sancov wins 200y free, Fusaro leads Trojan sweep on both boards.
Sophomore Alexei Sancov won the 200y Free while senior diver Henry Fusaro posted two first-place finishes (1-meter and 3-meter) in No.18 USC's loss to No. 1 California, 161-130, on Friday (Feb. 7) at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
Alexei Sancov out-touched California's Daniel Carr by .04 in the 200y free to take the event in 1:37.22.
Victor Johansson touched second in the 1000y free in 9:07.58. Johansson finished fourth in the 500y free in 4:37.93. Teammate Ivan Puskovitch finished third in the 500y free in 4:35.69.
The Trojans finished 3rd in the 100y back (Jack Kirby – 49.92), 100y breast (Matthew McDermott – 56.63), 200y fly (Mark Jurek – 1:50.34) and in both the 50 and 100y free (Miljenic – 20.15; 45.43).
Senior Henry Fusaro led a Trojan sweep on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 358.28. Freshman George Korovin (335.93) picked up the second-place spot, and Brad Dalrymple (298.35) finished third to complete the 1-2-3 USC finish. On 3-meter, it was Fusaro (380.85) once again leading a USC sweep. Korovin (369.30) and Dalrymple (3:27.15) went 2-3 for the Trojans.
In the 200y free relay, USC A (Miljenic, Finello, Max Saunders and Jan Collazo Torres – 1:22.08) claimed the top spot with USC B (Joao Ama, Thomas Reed, Jack Kirby and Ariel Spektor – 1:22.52) taking second.
USC hosts No. 16 Stanford on Saturday (Feb. 8) at 12 p.m. at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center. Seniors on the USC men's swimming and diving teams will be recognized prior to the start of the meet.
