No. 5 USC Falls to No. 2 UCLA at Mapes Beach

The Women of Troy claimed wins at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions over the Bruins
LOS ANGELES – The No. 5 USC beach volleyball team (4-3) fell to No. 2-ranked UCLA (9-2) at Mapes Beach on Saturday, March 7, in the Pac-12 South Invitational.
The Trojans scored the first point of the day from court two where freshman Kyla Doig and junior Sammy Slater took down Lexi Denaburg and Lindsey Sparks, 21-17, 21-16.
UCLA went ahead in the dual with a three-set win at court four and a straight-set victory at the No. 1 spot, but the Trojans evened the score with a win at court three. There, freshmen twin sisters Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse defeated Lily Justine and Lea Monkhouse, 21-15, 21-14.
In the deciding match, UCLA's Mac May and Megan Muret fought out extra-point victories over senior Cammie Dorn and junior Paige Dreeuws to seal the victory, 25-23, 23-21.
USC is back in action tomorrow (March 8) with a 10 a.m. PT dual against No. 11 California (7-1) at Mapes Beach on the UCLA campus and then finishes up the Pac-12 South Invitational with a matchup against Utah at 2:30 p.m. in Ocean Park Beach in Santa Monica, Calif. Live stats will be available for the dual against the Golden Bears.
