Trojans earn their first road dual win of the season.
The No. 7-ranked USC men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 victory Saturday afternoon over No. 15-ranked Florida at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla.
The Trojans dropped the doubles point for the first time this season as Florida's Will Grant and Axel Nefve defeated USC's No. 12-ranked Bradley Frye and Stefan Dostanic. The doubles point was won on court three as the No. 43-ranked Gator duo of Braswell/Greif defeated Trojans Wojtek Marek and Samuel Rubell 6-4.
Moving into singles with a one point deficit, USC remained composed and got straight to work, capturing five first sets. No. 79-ranked Stefan Dostanic was first to get the Trojans on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Florida's Axel Nefve. Moments later #38 Peter Makk defeated Gator Will Grant in straight sets with a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 2 singles. Ryan Colby scored third for the Trojans as he'd beat Lukas Greif 6-2 , 6-4 on court five. Playing on court three, Wojtek Marek clinched the match for Troy, defeating No. 51-ranked Nate Bonetto 6-4, 6-3. USC scored an additional point as Lodewijk Westrate battled to beat Togan Tokac 7-5, 7-6 (10-8).
Florida's only point in singles play came from court four as #93 Jonah Braswell defeated #65 Bradley Frye 6-4, 6-2.
Tomorrow USC will face No. 13 Georgia at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. EST.
