No. 10 USC Men's Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision To No. 1 TCU

FORT WORTH -Â The No. 10 ranked USC men's tennis team was unable to build momentum against the top ranked Horned Frogs, falling 7-0 to No. 1 TCU on Friday, March 24 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.Â

With the loss USC drops to 10-4 while TCU improves to 16-1. Â

TCU scored early by winning the doubles point. On court one, No. 13 Jake Fearnley/Luc Fomba defeated No. 21 Stefan Dostanic/Bradley Frye 6-4 in a match-up of top-25 pairings. TCU locked in the doubles point with a victory on court three where Sander Jong/Jack Pinnington defeated Peter Makk/Lodewijk Weststrate 6-4. Play on court two was suspended with Wojtek Marek/Samuel Rubell leading TCU's Sebastian Gorzny/Pedro Vives 5-4.

USC continued to struggle in singles play as the Trojans dropped the first set on four courts. TCU hauled in their second point following a victory on court one, where No. 21 Fearnley defeated No. 32 Dostanic 6-4, 6-0. The Horned Frogs widened their lead when No. 71 Sebastian Gorzny handed No. 124 Frye a 6-3, 6-2 loss on court five and No. 43 Sander Jong defeated Lodewijk Weststrate 6-4, 6-1 on court four to clinch the match.

Two Trojans were able to secure victories in their first sets but were unable to capitalize on their advantage. On court six, Rubell fell to Vives in three sets for a 6-0, 4-6, 0-1 defeat. On court two, No. 26 Makk secured a 7-5 victory in the first set, but lost the following two, losing the match to Pinnington 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8).

USC will return to action Sunday afternoon when they take on No. 3 Texas at the Texas Tennis Center in Austin. The match begins at noon pacific time.Â
