No. 3 USC Beach Volleyball Tops No. 5 Loyola Marymount to Close Regular Season

The Trojans improved to 26-0 all-time against the Lions with a win at Mapes Beach
LOS ANGELES – The No. 3-ranked USC beach volleyball team (26-3) defeated fifth-ranked Loyola Marymount (23-7) by a 4-1 count at Mapes Beach on Thursday, April 20. The win is fourth-year head coach Dain Blanton's 99th-career victory as USC improves to 26-0 all-time against LMU.

The Lions scored the first point of the dual from the No. 4 position. There, Cassie Chinn and Chloe Hooker claimed a 21-15, 21-19 win over the Trojans' duo of junior Olivia Bakos and freshman Gabby Walker, 21-15, 21-19.

Twin seniors Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse went three sets with Alisha Stevens and Abbey Thorup on court two to get a 16-21, 21-14, 15-11 win and evened the dual score.

USC went in front with a win at the No. 3 position where graduate Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope and freshman Madison White defeated Jacinda Ramirez and Isabelle Reffel, 21-13, 21-16.

The Trojans clinched the dual with a win at the top court where juniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple collected their 12th straight victory, a 21-18, 21-13 win over Melanie Paul and Vilhelmiina Prihti to improve to 22-1 on the season.

USC's fourth point came from the fifth pair of graduate Jenna Johnson and freshman Bailey Showalter. The Trojan duo defeated Madi Firnett and Isabelle Tucker in three sets, 32-34, 21-16, 15-13.Â

The Women of Troy now await seeding into the 2023 Pac-12 Championship set to be played at Stanford's Beach Volleyball Stadium next week (April 26-28). All duals will be shown live om the Pac-12 Networks.
