October 30, 2025 | Football
LOS ANGELES—USC quarterback Jayden Maiava has been named to the 2025 Davey O'Brien Quarterback Class, today (Oct. 30).
The class includes three dozen players from across the nation who are now officially in contention for the 2025 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award. The award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award.
Maiava was also recently named to the Manning Award Watch List.
Maiava has continued to thrive in USC's dominant offense and showcase his talents as one of the nation's top quarterbacks.
So far in 2025, he is 145-of-213 (.681) for 2,180 yards with 15 TDs and just 4 INTs. He has also collected 41 rushing yards on 23 attempts (1.80 avg.) and scored 4 TDs himself.
He currently leads the nation with a 92.1 QBR and is also No. 1 in the nation in yards per pass attempt (10.23).
Additionally, USC leads the nation in total offense (530.0) and passing offense (326.1).
Maiava is third in the nation and leads the Big Ten passing yards per game (311.4), passing yards per completion (15.03) and total offense (317.3). He is No. 5 in the nation in passing efficiency (173.5) and total offense (317.3).
Great throws beat great coverages, and Maiava's precision and athleticism display just that. His accuracy is showcased through his excellent ball placement and timing in his high-value and high-difficulty passes as he is tied for second in the nation with 16 big time throws, per PFF.
The list of semifinalists selected from the QB Class will be named on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Foundation will announce the three finalists two weeks later (Tuesday, Nov. 25). The 2025 Davey O'Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN on Friday, Dec. 12, during The Home Depot College Football Awards.
The 49th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner honoring the winner will be held Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
