USC Men's Golf Tied For First After Opening Round of Trinity Forest Invitational

DALLAS – After the opening round of play at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, the USC men's golf team is tied atop the leaderboard with Baylor at 9-under-par. Jack Buchanan and Luke Stock led the way in the first round, with Buchanan firing a 4-under-par 68 to sit in sixth place and Stock with a 3-under-par 69 sitting tied for seventh.

Buchanan posted a 4-under-par back nine after an even-par front nine and finds himself four shots back of the lead. After the turn, Buchanan birdied four of six holes to start his back nine. After opening with birdies on his first two holes of the day, Stock made the turn at 1-over-par and shot a bogey-free 4-under, 32, on his final nine holes.

Buchanan is no stranger to playing well at the Trinity Forest Invitational, firing scores of 64-69-71 last year and finishing in a tie for second at the event. He continues his impressive play this season, having finished second in the Trojans' first tournament of the season and 27^th in the most recent tournament. His 68 is the third lowest of the year and is the second time this season he has shot 68. Stock has also played well so far this season, with fifth and 27^th place individual finishes in the first two tournaments of the season.

Two more Trojans sit just behind Buchanan and Stock on the individual leaderboard and round out the team scoring, with Jaden Dumdumaya and Nicolas Dominguez currently in a tie for 18^th place. Dumdumaya opened with a 71 on day one of the event. In his sophomore season, Dumdumaya has started the year with finishes of second and 15^th in the opening two tournaments of the year. After seven rounds this season, Dumdumaya has a scoring average of 70. Dominguez, who is coming off a fourth place finish last week and the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, shot 35-36 to find himself 1-under-par after 18 holes.
