USC Swimming’s Luke Maurer and Junhao Chan Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

Trojans claim both Big Ten weekly awards, with Luke Maurer and Junhao Chan earning the latest honors.
LOS ANGELES – For the first time this season, No. 16 USC men's swimming swept the Big Ten weekly awards with Luke Maurer's claiming the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award and freshman Junhao Chan earning the Big Ten Newcomer of the week award.
The two Trojans were instrumental in USC's 159-94 victory over UNLV on Friday, Feb. 7, while also individual posting NCAA B standard times.
Swimming in his final dual as a Trojan, Maurer claimed both the 100y (43.02) and 200y freestyle (1:34.00) for Troy and was third in the 50y freestyle (20.04). He also helped the Trojans to a victory in the men's 400y freestyle relay, swimming the anchor leg in 43.10.
Chan claimed the 100y breaststroke in an NCAA provisional time of 52.08 and was second in the 200y breaststroke (1:54.38). He also appeared in two relays for the Trojans – 200y medley relay (B relay - breaststroke leg) and the 400y freestyle relay (C relay – third leg).
Up next, the Trojans will head to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete at the 2025 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships. The meet with run Wed., Feb. 26 through Sat., March 1.
