
USC’s Emily Ausmus and Meghan McAninch Win Gold With USA At U20 World Championships

Sophomore Emily Ausmus was named tournament MVP.
USC women's water polo has two more Trojans returning to campus with some extra hardware in gold medals won by Emily Ausmus and Meghan McAninch at the World Aquatics U20 World Championships with Team USA. As members of the U.S. Junior National Team, Ausmus and McAninch helped the Americans claim the U20 championship for the first time since 2015.
Along the way, both Ausmus and McAninch were named Player of the Match for their performances during group play competition. After Team USA's run to the top of the podium, Ausmus was named MVP of the tournament. Ausmus scored twice and McAninch added one goal for the USA in the gold-medal match, helping to beat Spain 16-15.

Ausmus was the USA's top scorer at the tournament with 21 goals tallied across the United States' six wins, while also adding nine steals and six field blocks. Now a junior at USC, McAninch finished up with six goals in helping Team USA to an undefeated run through all the action in Salvador, Brazil.👏 Emily and Meghan both earned Player of the Match honors during group play! 👏
