October 12, 2026 | Football
LOS ANGELES—USC wide receiver Trent Mosley has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for his performance in USC's 31-23 victory over Penn State on Saturday (Oct. 10). This is the first Big Ten weekly honor for Mosley in his Trojan career.
Four Trojan freshmen have earned Big Ten Freshmen of the Week honors this season: Mosley, tight end Mark Bowman, running back Riley Wormley and defensive end Luke Wafle. Two other Trojans have earned Big Ten weekly honors in 2026: quarterback Jayden Maiava was named Offensive Player of the Week and kicker Caden Chittenden was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week.
After returning from injury, freshman phenom Mosley led all players with 9 receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown. He gave the Trojans an early lead with a 19-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter and remained a reliable target throughout the game, finishing with nine catches on 13 targets and 40 yards after the catch. Mosley's productive performance helped USC earn a statement victory in front of 114,419 fans at Beaver Stadium amid the electric atmosphere of Penn State's "White Out."
Additionally, Mosley was named as one of On3's Week 6 True Freshman Standouts and to the Week 6 PFF Big Ten Team of the Week.
No. 19 USC travels to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers next weekend. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. PT (6:30 p.m. CT/7:30 p.m. ET) on Saturday, Oct. 24. The game will air live on NBC.
