USC Cross Country Posts Strong 6K Debut at The Master's University Invitational

Monserrat Santillan Silva finished as the top freshman in her 6k collegiate debut.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — The USC cross country team placed ninth out of 21 scoring teams at The Master's University Invite women's 6k on Saturday morning. Monserrat Santillan Silva once again led all Trojans with eighth place overall (out of 189 runners) in a time of 22:06.7, finishing as the fastest freshman in the field.
Ivanka Malysheva came in next for the Women of Troy in 22:56.2 to place 26th in her collegiate 6k debut. Senior Paige Unger was shortly behind Malysheva in a time of 23.31.1, breaking her 6k personal best by 19 seconds to place 42nd.
Alexandra Sparno placed 71st in a time of 24:27.4, and Emilia Gonzalez took 140th place to round out the day for the Trojans in 26:08.3.
The Women of Troy return to the race course in six days with the Bill Dellinger Invite hosted by the University of Oregon at Pine Ridge Golf Club. The women's 6k is slated for 12 p.m. with updates and results available at usctrojans.com and @usc_track_field on Instagram and X.
