USC Swimming Rolls Past TCU During Home Opener

No. 13 Women of Troy and No. 25 Trojan men combine for 21 event victories on Friday
LOS ANGELES — USC swimming completed a dominant opening weekend at the USC Invitational on Friday, securing victories over TCU in both the women's and men's competitions at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
The No. 13 Women of Troy defeated the Horned Frogs 228-86, while the No. 25 USC men earned a 239-76 victory in the Trojans' season opener. USC won 21 of Friday's 24 events, including all four relays and seven podium sweeps.
The Trojans set the tone by winning the women's and men's 200y free relays during the morning session. Bella Brito, Ludovica Di Maria, Ella Gaca Thiele and Minna Abraham combined to win the women's race in 1:30.07, while Oliver Sogaard-Andersen, James Allison, Michal Chmielewski and Emil Schmidt claimed the men's relay in 1:19.55.
Cornelia Fox led a USC sweep of the women's 400y individual medley, winning in 4:18.24 ahead of Brigitta Vass and Kaitlyn Nguyen. Filip Mujan followed with a victory in the men's 400y individual medley, touching in 3:52.06.
Sage Miller paced a 1-2-3 Trojan finish in the women's 100y fly, winning in 53.46 ahead of Lilly Derivaux and Maxine Clark. Michal Chmielewski took the men's race in 45.86, with Diego Balbi finishing second.
Abraham won the women's 200y free in 1:43.72, while freshman Andrew Maksymowski led a USC podium sweep in the men's race with a time of 1:35.61. Sogaard-Andersen and Allison placed second and third, respectively.
Junhao Chan closed the morning with a victory in the men's 100y breast, clocking a 53.13 as Stuart Timmerman and Keller Morgan completed another USC sweep.
The Trojans carried their momentum into Friday afternoon by winning both 200y medley relays. Dora Molnar then captured the women's 200y back in 1:55.54, edging teammate Lindsay Barnes, while Emiliano Zamudio shared the men's title with TCU's Filip Suchanski at 1:46.88.
Di Maria won the women's 100y free in 49.57 before Sogaard-Andersen led a USC sweep of the top five spots in the men's race. He touched first in 43.69, followed by Maksymowski and Allison.
Vass added a victory in the women's 200y breast with a time of 2:10.99. Chan completed a sweep of the men's breast events by winning the 200y breast in 1:53.68, leading a 1-2-3 USC finish with Mujan and Timmerman.
Miller collected her second individual victory of the day in the women's 200y fly, touching in 1:58.66 ahead of Clark and Derivaux for another Trojan sweep. Michal Chmielewski also completed a fly double, winning the men's 200y fly in 1:41.79, with twin brother Krzysztof Chmielewski placing second.
USC finished the meet by winning both 400y free relays. Abraham, Miller, Molnar and Di Maria combined for a 3:18.75 victory on the women's side, while Sogaard-Andersen, Allison, Schmidt and Michal Chmielewski won the men's race in 2:55.38.
The Trojans return to action Saturday, Oct. 17, when a group of USC swimmers travels to Long Beach for the MPSF Open Water Championships.
