USC Men's Tennis Upsets No. 14 Illinois 4-1 on Senior Day at Marks Stadium

Trojans claim doubles point and three singles wins to down the Fighting Illini.
LOS ANGELES — The USC men's tennis team capped its weekend in impressive fashion on Sunday, knocking off No. 14 Illinois 4-1 at Marks Stadium behind a strong all-around performance and a clutch showing in singles play.
The Trojans (16-6, 8-3) set the tone early by claiming the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Andrin Casanova and Jack McCarthy opened the scoring with a statement 6-3 victory over the No. 51-ranked duo of William Mroz and Kenta Miyoshi, and Connor Church and Branko Djuric followed with a 6-4 win to secure the early 1-0 advantage. The match on court one, featuring the No. 80 pair of Max Exsted and Nate Trouve, went unfinished with USC leading 6-5.
USC carried that momentum into singles, where Jack McCarthy delivered the first completed point of the afternoon with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sasha Colleu on court five to make it 2-0. Branko Djuric followed with a signature ranked win on court one, taking down No. 16 Kenta Miyoshi 6-2, 6-4 to extend the Trojan lead to 3-0.
Illinois got on the board at the No. 2 position, where No. 34 Gabriel Debru held off No. 64 Nate Trouve in straight sets to cut the deficit to 3-1. USC then shut the door as No. 72 Max Exsted clinched the match on court three with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 93 William Mroz.
Other matches went unfinished, including strong positions from Connor Church and Andrin Casanova as USC remained in control across the lineup.
With the win, USC secures a marquee upset over a top-15 opponent and completes a perfect weekend at home, building momentum as the postseason approaches.
