USC's Maggie Johnson Selected As 2026 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Recipient
July 10, 2026 | Women's Water Polo
The honor makes Johnson the first USC women's water polo player to receive the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
Maggie Johnson was named a recipient of the 2026 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, becoming the first Trojan to earn the honor since 2015.
Johnson earned her first career All-America recognition as an ACWPC Honorable Mention after leading the MPSF with 58 assists while adding 27 goals, 20 steals and six blocks. She helped guide the Trojans to the 2026 national championship, capping an accomplished collegiate career that included an NCAA title and three NCAA championship game appearances.
Earlier this year, Johnson became the first USC student-athlete and the first water polo player to receive the Wayne Duke Postgraduate Award. She also earned CSC Academic All-District, MPSF All-Academic and Academic All-Big Ten honors.
The NCAA awarded $10,000 to 42 exceptional student-athletes as part of its Postgraduate Scholarship program. These student-athletes, representing spring sports across all three NCAA divisions, demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, athletic excellence and leadership within their communities.
Established in 1964, the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship program promotes and encourages graduate education by recognizing the Association's most accomplished student-athletes. The program evaluates candidates on their athletic and academic achievements, campus involvement, community service and leadership.
