USC’s Max Exsted Punches Ticket To NCAA Singles Championships

By advancing to the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships, Max Exsted has secured a spot at the NCAA Individual Championships in November
TULSA, Okla. – USC men's tennis sophomore Max Exsted reached the ITA All-American Championships quarterfinals by winning three straight matches to open the tournament. In doing so, Exsted earned his spot in the fall NCAA Singles Championship Tournament.
Exsted came in at No. 47 in the ITA preseason rankings and defeated No. 35 Petro Kuzmenok (Rice) after dropping the first set to comeback 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Exsted then played a hard fought match to take down No. 59 Timofey Stepanov (California) 7-6(4), 6-4 to advance to the Round of 16.
With a spot in the NCAA Individual Championships on the line, Exsted faced off against The No. 7 player in the country and the tournament's No. 3 seed in Ohio State's Aidan Kim. Exsted played a balanced match and took a straight sets victory to punch his ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
