THIS SEASON: Justin Nguyen, a 2018 freshman, brings a strong sprint and middle distance freestyle to the Trojans and looks to bring consistent dual meet scoring with potential postseason contributions as well. He also has a strong 100y back in his repertoire.
HIGH SCHOOL: Nguyen, an NISCA All-American, prepped at Fountain Valley (Calif.) High, where he was a three-time CIF Southern Section Division 1 title-winner, including twice in the 100y free as a 2017 senior (44.47) and a 2016 junior (44.58). He also won the 100y back as a junior (48.94). He was third in the 100y free as 2015 sophomore (45.53) … He competed at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 200m back, taking 98th (2:06.45) … As a 2017 senior, he broke Olympian Tom Shields' 2009 Sunset League record in the 200y free with a league-title-winning 1:36.65.
