THIS SEASON: Scott Clausen, a 2017 junior, continues to improve as a mid-to-distance freestyler and IM'er who looks to become a postseason scorer this year.
2016: Clausen provided distance depth for the Trojans as a 2016 sophomore, swimming the 400y IM at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing 21st (3:59.91) ... He raced in three events at the 2015 Texas Invitational, highlighted by a 19th in the 400y IM (3:56.69).
2015: Clausen, as a 2015 freshman, provided depth in the distance freestyle for the Trojans. He raced at the Pac-12 Championships as an exhibition swimmer, posting season-bests in the 500y (4:30.14) and 1650y free (15:43.71) and the 400y IM (3:55.46).
HIGH SCHOOL: Clausen, who prepped at El Camino High in Oceanside, Calif., was part of the 2013-14 U.S. Open Water Junior National Team ... He competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, at the age of 16, in the 1500m free, finishing 47th ... He was the 2014 Avocado League Swimmer of the Year.
