THIS SEASON: Freshman Derek Roth, relatively new to the sport, is an up-and-coming diver looking to make a big impact in his first year with the Trojans.
HIGH SCHOOL: Roth, a three-time team MVP, prepped at Granite Bay (Calif.) High, where he won the 2007 Sac-Joaquin Section boys diving championship as a senior (coming within six points of setting a meet record) ... A national qualifier and region champion in 2007, he was an NISCA All-American first teamer as a junior and a senior.
CLUB: Capital Divers.
PERSONAL: Born Aug. 28, 1989 ... Roth[apos]s older brother, Scott, is a pole vaulter at Washington.
