THIS YEAR: Sophomore Yougendy Mauricette is in his second season as a hurdler on the USC track and field team.
2024: Mauricette placed seventh in the 400m hurdles at the Pac-12 Championships with a time of 52.23 on May 12. He ran a season-best 400m hurdles time of 51.41 in the Pac-12 prelims on May 10. He won the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.44 at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational on April 5. He competed in the long jump at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 28 and placed third with a PR of 24-11.25/7.60m (-0.5). Mauricette competed in three indoor meets and posted an indoor 400m PR of 47.36 in placing second at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Meet on Jan. 12.
HIGH SCHOOL: Mauricette is a 2023 graduate of Sussex Tech High in Georgetown, Del. where he was named the 2022 and 2023 Delaware Gatorade Boy’s Track Athlete of the Year. He has a 400m hurdles PR of 51.31. In 2023, he won the Delaware Division 110m hurdles, 300m hurdles and long jump titles for the second consecutive season. He also has PRs of 14.11 in the 110m hurdles and 37.60 in the 300m hurdles. In 2022 he won the Delaware Division I state title in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.35, the 300m hurdles with a time of 38.46 and the long jump with a leap of 23-3.50. He also won the 400m hurdles at the 2022 New Balance Nationals with his PR of 51.31, the national leading time and set the state record. He also won the 2022 400m hurdles title at the USA Junior Olympics.
PERSONAL: Mauricette was born on October 14, 2004…His parents are Rosette and Georges Mauricette and he has one sibling, Jessica….Volunteered locally as a youth track mentor and in community service endeavors through his church…He is a member of the Black Student Union…His hobbies include watching Anime and playing video games…His favorite movie is Interstellar…His favorite food is a well done steak….Someday would like to travel to Greece…After school he would like to compete professionally or be a software engineer…He is a Computer Science major at USC.
