Andrew Matson is director of athletic compliance/financial aid at USC. He joined the Office of Athletic Compliance in 2013 and was promoted to his current role in 2015.
Matson oversees and administers athletically-related financial aid for all 21 varsity sport programs at USC and serves on the USC Student Assistance Fund committee along with other senior administrators in the athletic department. He also serves as the compliance liaison to the university’s Office of Financial Aid.
Matson has been an active member of the National Association of Athletics Compliance (NAAC) since 2015.
Prior to being promoted to director, he served as the compliance coordinator at USC from 2014 to 2015. In that role, he was responsible for Bylaw 13 and 17 compliance, which included monitoring recruiting activities and the accurate accounting of countable athletic activity hours for several of USC’s athletics programs, including women’s lacrosse, women’s and men’s indoor volleyball, and women’s and men’s golf.
Matson began working for the Office of Athletic Compliance in 2013 as a graduate student intern while enrolled at the USC Gould School of Law.
A 2014 graduate of the USC Gould School of Law, Matson also earned his bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in international relations and political science from USC in 2011.
