Amanda Johansen enters her first season (2018) as assistant coach and offensive coordinator for the Women of Troy.
A 2016 IWLCA third-team All-American and the 2013 MPSF Rookie of the Year, Johansen returned to USC after serving one season as the graduate assistant coach at Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, Md. She was the defensive coordinators for the Mountaineers and was responsible for planning and coordinating the program’s travel. Johansen also spent four summers as a coach for the U18 Liberty Lacrosse Club travel team in Long Island, N.Y., where she was responsible for facilitating practices, individual skill development, and assisted in the recruiting process.
In college, Johansen was part of USC’s first official freshman class and became an integral piece of the program’s foundation. She was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Rookie of the Year in 2013 and was an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America third-team selection as a senior. Johansen earned IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region honors and All-MPSF honors four times each in her illustrious career. As a senior, she also received MPSF All-Academic recognition.
Johansen appeared in, and started, 77 games during her four-year career. She tallied 194 points (134g, 60a) and grabbed 258 draw controls. As a freshman, she set since-broken conference records for draw controls in a game (10) and in a season (100). Johansen served as USC’s captain in 2015 and 2016 and helped lead the Women of Troy to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance and the program’s historic run to the 2016 NCAA quarterfinals.
Following her collegiate playing career, Johansen joined the Baltimore Ride during the United Women’s Lacrosse (UWLX) league’s inaugural season. She led the Ride in points, goals, and assists during the team’s first two seasons.
Johansen graduated from USC in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and completed a minor in sports media studies. She received her master’s degree in sports management from Mount St. Mary’s (Md.) in 2017.
