No. 19 Men's Tennis Holds The Tigers, 5-2

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- 19th-ranked USC men's tennis (12-4) defeated No. 32 Clemson, 5-2, on Friday (March 17) at Marks Tennis Stadium. The Trojans earned their third-straight victory of the week after sweeping both Utah and Purdue.
USC began the match with a 1-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches. The Trojans returned to their usual pairings as Ryan Moore and Nicholas Rainey teamed for a 8-6 victory over Clemson's Josh Goffi and Darren Knight. Patrick Gottesleben and Daniel Langre posted a win at No. 2 with a 9-8, 7-2 tiebreaker. Andrew Park and Parker Collins completed the sweep with a 8-2 decision over Brad Emendorfer and Luis Garcia.
Troy did surrender the first singles match as Goffi posted a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win over Patrick Gottesleben for Clemson's first match point. Micah Thompson marked Clemson's second win at No. 6 by defeating Parker Collins, 6-4, 6-4. Rainey clinched the win for the Trojans by defeating Emendorfer in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
USC will return to action on Friday, March 24, when the Trojans will face 6th-ranked Pepperdine. The match will be played at Marks Tennis Stadium and will begin at 1:30 p.m.
