
Women's Golf Captures Fifth At NCAA Fall Preview

Top-ranked Candie Kung shot 148 (75,73) to lead the USC women's golf team to a fifth place finish at the NCAA Fall Preview held in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla., on Sept. 15-16 (Friday-Saturday).
The Women of Troy shot 605 total after two rounds--10 strokes back of first place Duke (595)--before thunderstorms forced the cancellation of the final round. Arizona finished second (598), followed by Tennessee (601), Wake Forest (603) and USC.
Kung, a sophomore, finished tied for fourth--two strokes back of co-champs Marta Prieto and Maria Beautell of Wake Forest (146)--while freshman Anna Lee finished tied for 15th (76, 74--150) in her USC debut. Sophomore Mikaela Parmlid finished tied for 27th (75, 78--153), while junior Leila Chartrand tied for 34th (74, 80--154) and senior Nicole Dalkas tied for 57th (77, 81--158).
The Women of Troy next play at the University of Washington's Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on Oct. 9-11. USC won the tournament last season.
