
Women of Troy Cruise Past Nevada, 86-48

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- With 20-point contributions from senior Tiffany Elmore and sophomore Aisha Hollans, the USC women's basketball team defeated Nevada 86-48 in front of 657 on Saturday (Dec. 15) at the L.A. Sports Arena. With the win, the Women of Troy improve to 4-5 overall, while the Wolfpack drop to 3-5.
Led by Elmore and Hollans, USC shot a season-best 51.5 percent from the floor and held Nevada to 33.3 percent shooting in the game. Four Trojans finished in double digits including sophomore Ebony Hoffman who posted her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Rachel Woodward added 15 points.
The Wolfpack were led by forward Katie Golomb who contributed 13 points and 9 boards.
USC led 12-0 before Nevada was able to hit its first field goal of the night thanks to a lay-up by Crystal Williams at 15:59. The Wolfpack only generated seven points in the first 10 minutes of the game and trailed by as much as 30 points (42-12) before embarking on a brief 9-6 run to enter halftime down 48-21.
The Women of Troy maintained a solid 30-point lead in the second half and allowed Nevada to come no closer before posting the final 38-point margin of victory.
The Women of Troy begin Pac-10 play next week at the Sports Arena as they host Oregon State and Oregon on Thursday (Dec. 20) and Saturday (Dec. 22). The Trojans' game against the Ducks will be aired live by Fox Sports Net at 4 p.m.
