
Women's Tennis Sweeps Anteaters, 7-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The seventh-ranked USC women's tennis team (2-0) defeated UC Irvine, 7-0, Thursday (Jan. 24) afternoon at Marks Tennis Stadium.
USC easily swept through all three doubles matches to start the afternoon. The Women of Troy held the Anteaters to only five combined total points in the matches.
In singles, USC's Jewel Peterson, Luana Magnani, Tiffany Brymer and Bernadette Bayani walked away with quick two-set victories, while Anita Loyola and Maureen Diaz were pushed to extra sets by UCI's Tiffany Chang and Anna Bentzer. Loyola managed to come back after dropping her first set to defeat Chang, 6-7, 7-6, 6-2.
The Women of Troy will host crosstown rival UCLA on Friday, Feb. 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Stadium in the first of two meetings for the 2002 Lexus Gauntlet Challenge.
