
Women of Troy Victory Sends Waves Crashing

MALIBU, Calif. -- Crosstown rival and 15th-ranked USC defeated host Pepperdine by a final score of 6-1 in a dual match played Wednesday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu. With the win, the Women of Troy improve to 6-4 this season.
The Trojans won all three doubles matches to start the afternoon. The most decisive victory came at the No. 3 spot as Bernadette Bayani and Melissa Esmero defeated Pepperdine's Anna Andersson and Monika Horvath by an 8-1 score.
USC then captured five of the six singles matches in straight sets to claim the victory. Pepperdine's lone win was at No. 5 singles, as Horvath defeated Tiffany Brymer by scores of 6-4, 6-3.
The Waves take a week-long break before returning to action next Wednesday (March 6) afternoon with a 1:30 p.m. home match against Georgia Tech.
