
Incoming Freshman Belen Mozo Wins Ladies British Open Amateur Title

USC incoming freshman women's golfer Belen Mozo won the 103rd Ladies British Open Amateur Championship on Saturday (June 17) at Royal County Down C.C. in Newcastle, Northern Ireland.
Mozo, 17, from Cadiz, Spain, won the premier women's amateur title in European golf with a 3 & 1 match-play win over Sweden's Anna Nordqvist. Mozo won six match-play rounds in a row as she navigated through the large tournament field en route to the title.
With the win, Mozo gained exemptions to the Women's British Open in July and to the U.S. Women's Amateur Championships in August.
Mozo will enter USC in January of 2007.
