WESTCHESTER, CALIF. - The No. 2-ranked USC men's water polo team swamped host LMU with a mixed blend of scoring that saw eight different Trojans get to the back of the net in a 12-4 win over the Lions on Sunday at LMU's home pool. The win snapped a three-game win streak for the Lions and pumped USC to a 2-0 record on the season. Senior Thomas Hale led the Trojans' charge with a three-goal game, while junior goalie Adam Shilling held down the fort in the cage with five saves for USC during his three quarters in goal.
The Trojans moved ahead 3-1 in the first period before blowing out to a 6-1 lead at halftime with a shutout defensive effort in the second period of play. USC mixed up the attack further in the third to hold a dominating 9-2 lead entering the final period. By the final buzzer, the Trojans had received a hat trick from Hale along with a pair of goals from junior Tommy Corcoran and freshman J.W. Krumpholz. Rounding out the scoring on the day were seniors Pavol Valovic and Juan Delgadillo, freshmen Matt Sagehorn and Anthony Artukovich and sophomore Jovan Vranes.
