PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIF. - USC doubles team Amanda Fink / Gabriela Niculescu put up a strong fight against the tournament's No. 2 seeded pair from Clemson, but fell 9-7 to end their run at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American. Fink/Niculescu had worked their way into the main draw as qualifiers with a strong performance in the qualifying rounds. But on Friday the Women of Troy were pitted against No. 2 seed MIjacika/vanAdrichem of Clemson, and the Clemson team pulled out the tight win to move on to the quarterfinals.
Also closing out competition at the Riviera was sophomore Sarah Fansler, who fell in consolation singles 6-3, 6-4 to Stanford's Jessica Nguyen.
The next competition for the Women of Troy will be the ITA West Regional in San Diego from Oct. 18-21.
