STOCKTON, CALIF. - The No. 4 USC women's water polo team rounded out a solid road trip to Northern California with a powerful 18-4 win over host Pacific on Sunday afternoon. Michelle Stein had another big game for the Women of Troy, pumping in four goals while Forel Davies added a hat trick to help lead the Trojans to victory. USC now holds a 12-4 overall record and is 5-0 in MPSF play.
Stein tallied her ninth multiple-goal game of the year and lifted her season scoring total up to 34 goals thanks to her four-goal effort for the Trojans. All told, 10 different Women of Troy scored on the day, highlighted by the first career goal for Rebecca McCall and Katie Indvik's first multiple-goal game of her USC career with a pair of strikes today.
USC opened up the game with a 5-1 lead in the first half, then went up 9-2 by halftime. The third period stood out as USC's most dominant period, as the Trojans racked up six goals while shutting out the Tigers to blast ahead 15-2 entering the final period of play. By that final buzzer, USC had tallied 10 scorers, and goalies Whitney Morgan and Courtney Ray had combined for six saves against the Tigers.
USC now turns to host crosstown rival UCLA for a chance to knock off the undefeated and top-ranked Bruins. The Women of Troy are set to take on UCLA at 5 p.m. on Friday (March 14) at McDonald's Swim Stadium, where the Trojans hold a 42-game win streak.
