Junior goalie Tumua Anae anchored a huge win for No. 2 USC with 10 saves against top-ranked Stanford in the teams' MPSF regular-season finale, and has secured her third selection this season as MPSF Player of the Week.
Anae opened the game with a save against a Cardinal 5-meter penalty shot to help the Trojans shut out Stanford in the first period. In another defensive shutout by USC in the third period, Anae had four more saves, including a stop against a Stanford 2-meter strike and then a big save against a dangerous Stanford 6-on-4 opportunity.
With her 10 saves against Stanford, Anae tallied her fifth game with double-figure saves in eight appearances. The eventual 11-6 USC win over Stanford secured an undefeated MPSF finish for the Trojans to earn the top seed at the upcoming MPSF Tournament and gave USC its 10th straight win. USC is now 21-1 overall. The five-goal margin also matched USC's biggest win over Stanford since 2005.
USC now turns to competition at the MPSF Tournament as the No. 1 seed. Action runs April 24-26 in Hawai'i.
