USC's Amy Rodriguez has established herself as a national team veteran, picking up her 50th career cap in international play with the U.S. National Team. A 2007 NCAA champion with the Trojans and a 2008 Olympic gold-medalist with Team USA, Rodriguez is now one of only 38 players in U.S. women's soccer history to hold 50 caps.
Rodriguez hit the 50 mark on Oct. 28 in the United States' game against Haiti in the first round of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Mexico. What's more, Rodriguez knocked in her ninth career goal as a U.S. national teamer, scoring in the 41st minute of play to take the United States ahead 3-0 on the way to an eventual 5-0 win over Haiti.
Rodriguez and Team USA are in Mexico playing for a place in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany. The two teams to reach the final at this eight-team CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Tournament will secure a spot in Germany. This is Rodriguez' first World Cup qualifying tournament appearance.
