The USC women's soccer team closes down the 2010 season with a set of players on the 2010 All-Pac-10 honor roll in the Trojans' run to their sixth straight NCAA appearance. USC's strong senior class of players who won the school and the conference's first-ever NCAA Championship in 2007 have finished out their careers with Pac-10 accolades. Senior defender Karter Haug and forward Megan Ohai lead the group with spots on the All-Pac-10 Second Team, with senior midfielder Alyssa Dávila and redshirt junior midfielder/defender Ashli Sandoval earning All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention. Freshman Elizabeth Eddy also joins the mix with her selection to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team.
The Pac-10 also has released is academic honorees for the season. For their on-field efforts and off-field academic strengths, four Women of Troy have earned Pac-10 All-Academic Honorable Mention. Senior Karter Haug completes her career with a full resume of academic accolades from the conference, and is joined this year by juniors Brittany Kerridge and Claire Schloemer along with redshirt freshman Morgan Morrow.
Seniors Alyssa Dávila, Karter Haug and Megan Ohai and redshirt junior Ashli Sandoval were all freshmen on USC's 2007 national championship team. All four have made their mark on USC history as NCAA champs, but they also each have a spot in the all-time top 10 on the USC stat sheets. Dávila wraps up her USC career at No. 2 all-time in career game-winning goals (12), and holds the seventh-most career goals (23) and is No. 9 in career points (55). Ohai closes out her Trojan career with the sixth-most career game-winners (7) and ninth-most goals (16) and assists (12). And defender Haug was USC's season leader in assists, finishing up with the 10th most total in USC history (11) while also holding the program record for career starts with 88. Sandoval, who has one more season to play following a season-ending knee injury in 2009 and led USC in scoring this season, is No. 10 in career points (51) and has the eighth-most game-winners (5) and 10th most goals (14) while standing tall at No. 4 all-time in career assists (23).
This season, All-Pac-10 Second Team selections Haug and Ohai each scored a pair of goals for the Trojans. Defender Haug led the Trojans with six assists on the year, and picked up her first career honor as a Pac-10 Player of the Week. Ohai's two goals and two assists on the year came from her slot on the front lines. Both Ohai and Haug slotted game-winning goals for USC on the year in helping the Trojans to a third-place finish in the Pac-10 Conference.
All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention recipients Dávila and Sandoval also reflected the versatility and leadership on the Trojan roster. Back from a redshirt season due to a knee injury suffered last season, Sandoval emerged as USC's scoring leader with six goals, including three game-winners on the year, as she moved from the midfield to the back lines later in the season after a season-ending injury sustained to defender Morgan Morrow. Davila knocked in two goals and tallied an assist while also providing another game-winning goal to her career count.
Freshman Elizabeth Eddy opens her USC career with honors on the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team after serving up five goals and three assists to finish second on the team in total points. She made her mark on the conference with authority when she registered a hat trick in USC's overtime win over Cal during Pac-10 action.
All-Academic honorees Haug, Kerridge, Morrow and Schloemer all were impact players for the Trojans this season while excelling in the classroom. Haug, a senior communications major, holds a 3.36 GPA as she earns her third All-Academic nod. An anchor in the midfield, Kerridge had a goal and two assists for the Trojans on the year while holding a 3.37 GPA as a junior accounting major. Schloemer served full-time on the Trojan back line alongside Haug and Morrow, as the USC defense secured seven shutouts on the year. Schloemer has a 3.06 GPA as a health promotion and disease prevention major. Morrow, whose season was cut short by an ACL tear sustained to the opposite knee that she spent last season rehabilitating, was another defensive lock for the Trojans and also added an assist in the redshirt freshman's first season of action with the Trojans. Morrow, who has not yet declared a major, holds the highest GPA on the team with a 3.61 GPA.
