Senior defender Karter Haug has now made it three straight games with a role in USC's game-winning goals after having a hand in four of USC's five goals scored last weekend. For her efforts on both ends of the field, Haug has picked up USC's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor of the season, and the first of her career.
Haug scored her first career game-winning goal on Friday in the 83rd minutes of play to get USC a 3-2 comeback victory over Washington State - adding an assist to Brittany Kerridge on USC's first goal of that game. And on Senior Day against Washington, Haug tallied two more assists, first setting up the Trojans' game-winning strike by Carly Butcher against the Huskies, and also assisting on USC's second goal in the game with a corner kick to set up Ashli Sandoval's header. Haug now has recorded four assists in three games to go along with her game-winning goal against WSU.
Meanwhile, in addition to her offensive help, Haug helped anchor the USC defense as usual, holding WSU and Washington to just three shots on goal each, while helping the Trojans to their sixth shutout of the year with the 2-0 win over the Huskies.
Haug is the first Trojan to be named Pac-10 Player of the Week this season. The No. 17 Women of Troy (11-4-3, 4-2-1 Pac-10) wrap up the regular season on the road this weekend with a Pac-10 trip to ASU and Arizona before awaiting the NCAA Tournament selection announcement on Monday (Nov. 8).
