A two-time NCAA champ with the Trojans and two-time Pac-10 Player of the Year, USC's own Robert Farah has propelled himself into an outstanding start to his professional career. Farah followed up USC's 2010 NCAA Team Championship in his senior season at Troy with a jump to pro action in South America. The Colombian native has since lost just one singles match - a third-set retirement due to illness -- in four tournaments, jumping from an unranked start to a current No. 276 world singles ranking.
Farah's meteoric rise in the ranks is a rare occurrence, but the Trojan's wildly successful collegiate career at USC and fiery talent on the court has clearly served him well as a pro. He has won four straight singles titles and three straight doubles titles on the pro circuit. His most recent conquest carried him to victory at the $125,000 Seguros Bolivar Open in Bogota, Colombia last weekend as he dispatched all opponents on the way to a 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (3) win over Colombia's highly ranked Carlos Salamanca in the final.
In that same tournament, Farah teamed back up with Juan Sebastian Cabal in doubles to bank a third title. That effort lifted Farah to a new world doubles ranking of No. 360 thanks to his undefeated run through pro doubles play to date.
This year, Farah has been competing in ITF Futures and the ATP Challenger Tour, holding a combined 16-1 singles record and a 12-0 mark in doubles with Cabal. His surging success could put Farah in position as a possible fit into Colombia's roster for its Davis Cup clash with the USA in September.
