SALT LAKE CITY -- Alex Jupiter had 15 kills while hitting .407 (15-4-27) as the No. 5 USC Women of Troy won their sixth consecutive match Sunday with a 3-0 sweep at the Utah Utes (25-13, 25-14, 25-19). Katie Fuller registered her first double-double of the season with 12 kills and 13 digs while hitting .500 (12-2-20).
USC remains in a first-place tie with UCLA atop the Pac-12 Conference standings with a 6-1 mark, 11-3 overall as the Trojans have won six consecutive matches (all 3-0 sweeps). Utah drops to 6-10 on the season, 1-6 overall.
The Women of Troy hit .400 on the afternoon as senior All-America setter Kendall Bateman delivered 37 assists. Senior All-America middle blocker Lauren Williams chipped in 10 kills and three digs while hitting .529 (10-1-17). The Utes were led by Erin Redd with seven kills, but Utah was only able to record 29 kills against 19 hitting errors.
"We were on our game today and a lot of players contributed to our win," said USC head coach Mick Haley. "We were sharp and switched a few things. Utah is a good team and recognized a lot of things. Their record is not indicative of how well they played us. We need to focus on another challenge on the road next weekend."
USC travels to Arizona next Friday (Oct. 7) and Arizona State on Saturday (Oct. 8). Both matches will feature a live audio webcast and Gametracker live stats on usctrojans.com.
