USC goalie Joel Dennerley tacked up 14 saves, including a 5-meter penalty block, to back up USC's 8-4 win over No. 3 Stanford and has subsequently picked up his eighth career selection as the MPSF Player of the Week.
Dennerley's save vs. the Stanford penalty shot kept the Cardinal from cutting it a one-goal game in the second period of play and helped set up a three-goal scoring run for the Trojans to take a 6-1 lead. He would go on to make nine more saves in the second half of play as the Trojans moved out of reach of Stanford, getting the win to stand as the only team undefeated in MPSF play to date.
Dennerley is averaging 9.75 saves per game and 4.77 goals-against per game in his senior season at Troy. He stands as USC's all-time career leader in saves with 780 stops to date. This is his second MPSF Player of the Week win of the year. USC is now 15-2 overall and 5-0 in MPSF play.
Dennerley and the Trojans return to action this weekend with a doubleheader on Saturday (Nov. 5) against Pepperdine at 1 p.m. and Chapman at 2:30 p.m. at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
