
No. 2 USC Women Roll Over Cal Baptist 19-4

LOS ANGELES - In their first home match of the season the No. 2 USC women's water polo team rolled over the Cal Baptist Lancers 19-4 at McDonald's Swim Stadium on Saturday afternoon. USC's Madeline Rosenthal led all scorers with four goals in a contest that also featured hat tricks from fellow Trojans Joelle Bekhazi and Kristen Dronberger. The Women of Troy move to 4-1 overall with the win.
The Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first frame as Joelle Bekhazi netted two goals in the first four minutes. Nadia Dan drew a foul to open the second period and capitalized buy burying the penalty shot to put USC up 4-0. Rosenthal and Dronberger each tallied their first goals of the game as well as the Trojans went into the half with a 6-2 lead.
As the second half began so did the offensive onslaught for the Trojans. Rosenthal scored on the break as she beat the Lancers Camryn Rogers to the top corner from close range. Dronberger followed suit as she netted two more goals in the third frame to secure her hat trick. Up 11-2 at the start of the fourth, USC continued to dominate by adding eight more goals. Rosenthal scorched a backhander from five feet by Rogers and would add two more scores before time expired.
USC returns to action Friday (Feb. 18) as they travel to Long Beach State for a 12 p.m. contest.
