Five of the seven Trojans who will make up the 2011-12 USC women's golf team are competing this week at the 2011 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at the Rhode Island C.C. in Barrington, R.I.
All five advanced out of the initial 156-player, 36-hole stroke play portion into the 64-player match-play tournament that began today (Aug. 10). Incoming freshmen Doris Chen was the high Trojan finisher in the stroke play competition that ended Tuesday (Aug. 9), taking sixth at 2-under 140 (69-71) while rising senior Lisa McCloskey tied for 10th at par 142 (71-71).
